He began sharing what he had learned about contracting for professional services and managing professional liability issues as a guest speaker at local universities and on webinars. To facilitate getting this information to a wider audience, he wrote and self-published a book entitled “A Guide to Managing Engineering and Architectural Design Services Contracts – What Every Project Manager Needs to Know.” The book is available at Amazon.com in printed and e-book form and as an audio-book at the EMI website.

Ann is the sole provider of in-person project management foundations training for the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) nationwide (www.asce.org). Of more than 200 ASCE professionals teaching nearly 100 civil engineering topics, Ann is consistently rated among the top four of all ASCE instructors. Ann led the team who prepared and released the 2014 Report Card for Pennsylvania’s Infrastructure, which involved over 55 experts across the four Pennsylvania sections of ASCE. The Report Card evaluated sixteen infrastructure categories and assigned grades on an A to F scale.

Michael Burns serves as Vanir’s Executive Director of Infrastructure. In this role, Mike is responsible for providing senior-level management and leadership, working collaboratively across regions to sustain growth in the transportation and water markets. He is also responsible for growing development advisory services for civil and social infrastructure public private partnerships.
With nearly 30 years of extensive construction and engineering experience, Mike has held planning, design, construction and finance roles across a broad set of public and private infrastructure development programs. Together, his empathetic leadership style and program management experience has honed his understanding of complex governance and economic models, deepening his enthusiasm for leading teams delivering sustainable infrastructure to our communities.
Mike holds a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis on Construction Engineering and Management from the University of Colorado, Boulder and a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Montana State University, Bozeman.
Mike is a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Colorado. His professional registrations include Project Management Institute – Program Management Professional and Design Build Institute of America – Designated Design Build Professional. He is also a proud member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the University of Colorado’s Construction Advisory Board.

Betty graduated from De La Salle University Philippines with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering. She received her Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of the Philippines (UP). She and her other UP colleagues formed a consulting company to assist companies with their environmental compliance, permitting requirements and impact assessment. Shortly after, Betty was selected as one of the Philippine representatives for the Industrial Biotechnology and Technology Transfer in Germany, which lasted for 10 months. Betty moved to the United States in 2006 and joined our team in 2012.
